Called to Faith and Called to Worship

What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus?  We have heard over the last few Sundays that it is being called by the word to believe and trust in Jesus and to not be just hearers of the Word but doers of the word.    We have heard how we are also called to faith and called to prayer.  God has opened to us the floodgates of his mercy and love through the cross, now our hearts are connected to His loving heart.  He promises to always hear us.  This coming Sunday we are going to hear how we are "Called to Faith and Called To Worship."  The issue of worship in many churches has become a volatile issue that no one wants to discuss.  So lets take a step back and see how we are called to worship.  It is not about style, tradition, or music.  It is about what God intends to do in each of us during that time of worship.  Jesus said in Matthew 11 "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."  God's purpose in worship is to give you rest from all your worries, burdens, and sins.  In worship our loving God is coming to set you free, to rescue you, and help you clearly see His one and only Son, Jesus Christ.

God's Grand Plan - Dressed For Battle

Ephesians 6:10-20

Are you going out into the the world dressed for battle?  It may seem that way as we get up, go to work, go to school, or start our day.  Yet all too often we are going out to live our Christian life, to wrestle against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms, without any armor.  God has provided us with His heavenly armor to defend and protect the new life of faith that we have in Jesus.  It is that armor that we need to daily put on with prayer, study of God's Word, and the assurance that by faith we are the children of God.  We are His children, part of His Grand Plan, and He has given us all we need to live out this Christian life and faith.  Take a moment and look at your armor from God's Word and get dressed for battle, a battle already won by our savior Jesus.  Join us this Sunday as we finish up with our sermon series and prepare for Rally Day on September 9th.
