Called to Faith and Called to Worship

What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus?  We have heard over the last few Sundays that it is being called by the word to believe and trust in Jesus and to not be just hearers of the Word but doers of the word.    We have heard how we are also called to faith and called to prayer.  God has opened to us the floodgates of his mercy and love through the cross, now our hearts are connected to His loving heart.  He promises to always hear us.  This coming Sunday we are going to hear how we are "Called to Faith and Called To Worship."  The issue of worship in many churches has become a volatile issue that no one wants to discuss.  So lets take a step back and see how we are called to worship.  It is not about style, tradition, or music.  It is about what God intends to do in each of us during that time of worship.  Jesus said in Matthew 11 "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."  God's purpose in worship is to give you rest from all your worries, burdens, and sins.  In worship our loving God is coming to set you free, to rescue you, and help you clearly see His one and only Son, Jesus Christ.
